This Privacy Policy sets out the handling practices of your Personal Information and follows the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act (Cth1988). COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We collect personal information such as your name, phone number, postal and email address and what we need by lawful means for the particular event for which you register. The main way we collect personal information about you is when:

you give it to us via an enquiry, social media, or make a comment on our website

contract with us as a Presenter, Exhibitor, Sponsor or service provider

register as a delegate for an Aqua Alliance event

join us as a volunteer
We may also obtain personal information from publicly available sources and third parties to enable us to contact persons who may be interested in events such as the AquaSummit.
On registration for an AquaSummit event, you will decide if you would like to share information, such as, if you have a health and/or medical condition that we need to know about and the person we would contact in an emergency situation.
We communicate with you via email marketing and offer you a choice to opt-out at any time by using the ‘unsubscribe option’.
PRIVACY AND PERSONAL HANDLING PRACTICES
Your personal information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
If Aqua Alliance receives unsolicited personal information about you, we will determine whether or not, in the normal course of business, this information could have otherwise been collected if solicited. The personal information may be disclosed for the purpose of making this determination. If Aqua Alliance determines that it could not have collected the information if solicited, it will destroy the information if it is lawful and reasonable to do so.
Aqua Alliance does not collect sensitive information about an individual unless:

the individual consents and the information is reasonably relevant to your attendance and participation at an Aqua Alliance event

there is a medical emergency

we are required to collect such information under Australian law.

we need to process a payment for registration or other event/activity e.g. additional social event tickets, merchandise etc).
SECURITY and ACCESSING PERSONAL INFORMATION
Aqua Alliance takes such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
Changes to personal information are usually received directly from the individual or via a bounced email. Personal information is corrected or deleted upon notification from the individual.
If you ask, unless the law states otherwise, we will give access to the personal information that we hold about you, and take reasonable steps to correct if it is considered to be incorrect within 14 days after the request has been received. Aqua Alliance may request the individual to personally identify themselves prior to disclosure.
WEBSITE
Aqua Alliance uses a range of tools provided by third parties, including Google and web hosting company VentraIP, to collect or view website traffic information. These sites have their own privacy policies. We also use cookies and session tools to improve your experience when accessing our websites. You should check the privacy undertakings of the third parties before providing your personal information.
The information collected by the tools used on the Aqua Alliance website may include the IP address of the device you are using and information about sites that the IP address has come from, the pages accessed on our site, and the next site visited. We use the information to maintain, secure and improve our websites and to enhance your experience when using them. In relation to Google Analytics, you can opt out of the collection of information using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Some of the information you may enter on our website may be transmitted securely via a medium known as Secure Sockets Layer or SSL. Credit Card information is never transmitted via email. We do not save any payment information on our system after the transaction has been verified by our payment gateway, Stripe. You should check the privacy undertakings of the third parties before providing your personal information.
SOCIAL NETWORKING SERVICES
We use social networking services such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to communicate with our customers about Aqua Alliance Events. When you communicate with us using these services we may collect your personal information, but we only use it to help us to communicate with you. The social networking service will also handle your personal information for its own purposes. These sites have their own privacy policies.
